Kosovo, tensions at the border with Serbia over the ban on Belgrade documents and licence plates

Measures postponed by one month

There is still tension at the border between Serbia and Kosovo, where, as of 1 August, certain obligations launched by the government in Pristina were due to come into force: a ban on the use of Serbian identity cards and car number plates and, on the contrary, the request to use only Kosovan documents. The legislation has generated some protests from the country’s ethnic Serb population in recent hours, and the Kosovan government has therefore decided to postpone the activation of the measures by one month, to 1 September.
